| TERRORISM AND LOVE
Reflections on the attacks in the US
After the shock, after the fear,
after the grief, the thoughts came, the information and
the conclusions. In the beginning, I was asked whether I
thought it was possible that the Americans had perpertrated
the attacks. I said that I didn’t want to think this
thought. But then more and more clues appeared that pointed
in this direction. According to messages which we received
through the internet and from reliable sources, it seems
that several groups both in and out of the USA, even inside
the government, knew in advance about the planned attacks
and were involved in its preparation. In this case, the
suicide attackers only served as agents. We were not unprepared
for this possibility, because there is proof that the intelligence
agencies and high government officials were involved in
the asassination of president John F. Kennedy. How might
the German Foreign Minister, Joschka Fischer, feel now in
his heart when he suspects, due to his previous political
background, which games are being played today? How would
Renate Künast feel if she noticed during the insane
measures against the Mad Cow Disease and Mouth and Foot
Disease that these things were perpertrated by other forces?
What will the media do to repress all suspicious pieces
of evidence? There is a growing peace movement which is
no longer willing to believe the propaganda in the media..
Before I come to the main
subject, I want to make three points about my assessment
of the political situation: First: It was an attack against
the symbols of power of the USA. Because these symbols could
be destroyed, this power has become weaker, no matter what
purposes were behind it. Second: These symbols were of a
false power which has spread unspeakable pain thoughout
the world through its global economic politics. We have
grieved for the victims and their relatives. But who grieves
for the daily victims in the Third World? There is no country
on earth which exploits so many cultures worldwide, which
extinguishes so many human lives, which destroys so much
nature as the imperialistic economic politics and way of
life of the US. From this point of view one can look at
the attack as an act of desperation on the side of the attackers.
Third: The global peace movement is beginning to rediscover
the fundamental thoughts of real peace and will gain a lot
of new supporters. September 11th served, if you like, towards
a „fundamentalism“ of peace beyond all ideological
structures. A new force is arising which is far more than
only a reaction against the evil. On many cars you can already
see the bumper stickers „No revenge, but consideration“.
This is true for us, for the US, for Palestine. Couldn’t
it also be true for all our loving relationships in which
we were disappointed?
I have noticed that I cannot
hate any more. The more cruelty happened on earth, the more
my hate diminished.The more injustice and lies directed
against myself, the less I could think of revenge. Otherwise
I would sometimes have to revenge against myself. We experience
outside of ourselves the eruptions of a system which is
based inside of us on violence and fear. This system is
also in our selves. The will for peace is not only a cry
against the outer conditions but the will for peace is the
definitive change of our own living conditions. .
I believe in the original
goodness of human beings. I believe in the divine nature
of human beings and all other beings. I also believe –
- I apologize if it sounds like a mockery - I also believe
more than ever before in the power of love. I believe in
nothing more than in the power of love when dealing with
the question of whether mankind and earth can still be saved.
These are no longer words, not lip service, but letters
which life has spelled into me for such a long time until
I could read and understand them again. In the eagerness
of over thirty years of political activity I forgot about
this truth, and now it emerges. And surely not just for
me. I write these lines in the certainty that we are all
part of a growing light net of humans, awakened by this
catastrophe, ready to give their ultimate for the creation
of a new world of real peace on earth.
There are no longer the guilty
ones and the innocent ones in the old sense. We are not
obliged to look for and remove the guilty ones, but to look
for the reasons.The reasons lay in a worldwide system of
exploitation and barbarism, driven by economic organizations,
governments, armies, and intelligence agencies. They lay
in a false economic order which is based on consumerism,
destruction of nature and the exploitation of the poor parts
of the world. They lay in a system where life is job, marriage,
career and consumerism, leading to this exploitation of
which we are all more or less a part. They also lay in the
slaughter houses and the animal laboratories with which
we daily increase the pain in the world.
It no longer makes any sense
to look for the causes only outside of ourselves; rather
they have long since been inside of us. The misfortune in
our love relationships, reproduced a million times, cannot
produce a healing politics. There cannot be peace on earth
as long as there is war in love. What the villains of the
world accomplish is a consequence of a „global heart
break“ of abandonment, deception, and loneliness.
They are themserlves not only villains, but were also sacrificed
to a system that never offered them the certainty of love
and the calmness of confidence. What Milosovic did in Yugoslavia
would not really be understandable if we did not also have
the following information: Both of his parents committed
suicide while he was a child. Aren’t we entitled to
ask of even him Mignon’s old question: What has been
done to you, you poor child?
There is a holographic principle
in the world: What we experience on the outside is what
we project out from our own inner events. The political
stage of our era is a mirror image of the inner human stage
of our whole civilization. There cannot be peace on the
outside as long as we run around with images of enemies
and thoughts of hatred inside of us. This applies to politics
as well as to love. This is the message of these days. It
requires a lot from us, but aren’t we ready for that?
Liberation today is no longer
the liberation from outside enemies, because there are no
outside enemies any more. We now stand ready to liberate
ourselves from our inner distress, which has wiped out our
ability to build up communities that function in the sense
of „One carries the burden of the other.“ The
„New Left“ failed 30 years ago, not because
of the superiority of an outside enemy, but because of their
inability to live together. We knew how to fight together
against the state, but we did not know how to live together.
We knew what we fought against, but not what we could stand
up for. We had eagerness and our struggle, but we did not
know the fundamentals of love and community.
Great peace activists of
the last century have fought against strong oppression;
Mahatma Ghandi, Martin Luther King, Jacques Lusseyran, Nelson
Mandela...
Great women have carried the power of peace into people‘s
daily lives:
Ruth Pfau, Aung San Sui Kyi, Dhyani Ywahoo, Felicia Langer,
Gloria Cuartas...
In continuing their work, and in actual cooperation with
some of them, we now have to take the next step. This is
the introduction to an evolution in which we will become
able to live together, without fear, in joy, working together
for the garden of earth. Love is the reintegration of human
communities into the huge cosmic family, of which we are
all a part.
Love will not grow by itself,
when is surrounded by suspicion and mistrust. The heart
needs our support to be able to open. In order to give durability
to love and solidarity,. we need to build new humane, new
social and ecological structures around our hearts. The
earth needs „support bases of love“ where the
new social, sexual, economic and ecological structures can
evolve. Forty years ago, the main issue in research was
how to create technological advances for astronautics; today
the main issue is how to create durable social structures
for love, structures for cooperation with nature and creation.
This is a new thought. We need a new social foundation for
peace. In order to be able to see and love again the divine
spirit in our love partners, our neighbours and our fellow
creatures we need a new social vessel which can be filled
with the holy matrix of life and love and transform it into
reality. We need „green houses of confidence“,
where the old wounds can heal. We need communities and neighbourhoods
where children can believe in their parents again and where
people who encounter each other in love will no longer be
betrayed. We should no longer allow love to be connected
with the pain of separation and the fear of loss. Do we
realize how souls and bodies sigh when we are allowed to
love without fear? How much of the pharmaceutical industry,
how many animal laboratories, how many hospitals could we
save ourselves from ever needing, if our cells and organs
could take a big bath in the stream of surrender and love!
We need sanctuaries where the healing forces are stronger
than the suffered pain and where the joy of life is bigger
than the pent-up rage.We want to work so that within the
large community of humanity, a network of trust grows which
will be stronger than the network of violence.
We want to end forever the
senseless fight against nature and her beings, including
the so-called vermin. We need peace gardens instead of chemical
monocultures. Nature and human are two aspects of the same
life; we are all aspects of the One Being and the One Consciousness.
We are programmed for contact and communication with all
beings. They meet us in unreserved friendship, if we approach
them with gentleness and love.
We need a liberating concept
of sensual love, so that we can experience the huge joy
and the tremendous gratitude for this wonderful gift to
humans. We need for our sexual powers a new, „yes-saying“,
integrated order, which supports our joy and not our guilty
conscience. We need a caring shelter for our erotic joy,
because we invision lust and love are siblings. We need
a structure for the sexes where no one has to point out
the equal rights of women because this is self-evident and
no one has the thought any longer that it could be otherwise.
A new culture will arise out of a new relation between the
sexes. We need a cultural formation, which draws on the
old female sources of highly developed ancient cultures
without throwing science and technology overboard.
It is divine to decipher
the mysteries of old stone circles and it is also divine
to discover the holographic structures of our world. We
need the re-connection to our divine source, which fills
us with life and joy even in times of distress, where satisfaction
from the outside is no longer possible. We need the deep
tranquility and the sacredness and blessings of our lives.
All this is needed for a new cooperation with creation.
Then we no longer work out of our own solitary strength,
because the universe, which is in all of us, now cooperates
in partnership with us.. The conditions for a humane culture
should be understood and realized from the roots. We are
all rooted in the One Great Being, which is the same for
all creatures. So let us find forms of life where all fragments
of this One Being – man and woman, human and nature,
matter and spirit, worldly and otherworldly, art and science,
religion and eros – come together again. This is the
large project of our time, to which we have committed. It
is not a project of small groups, but a project of humanity.
We are all close to entering a new stage, a new octave of
life. The big social systems will fall apart, until they
come together into units of life which cannot break down
any further, because the new force is circulating within
them. In spite of all drawbacks and errors, which we make
unavoidably on this path, we cannot leave this direction
any more.
It is our service to the world. God, present us with the
wisdom and tranquility to see and follow the holy matrix
in all things. I ask all helping powers for support and
assistance. I thank all those working to heal the earth.
May the breakdown of the old symbols of power open the way
into the new self-sufficient systems of peace.
